I have been reading and writing as long as I can remember! My Mom, a teacher, registered my twin sister and me for the pen-pal program in our local library. We were paired with twins from London and started writing each other when we were seven years old. I couldn’t wait to check the mail in hopes of a new letter! As soon as it came, I would sit down at my kitchen table, read over every word, and then write my response. We’ve remained in contact for 21 years! Writing letters to my pen pal developed a lifelong love for reading and writing.
For my debut book, I combined my love of history, children and humor. I wanted a book during the election season specifically for children; thus, “Passing the Bone: America’s Next POTUS” was born! Our country will soon elect a new president. Any presidential election is exciting and historic! I want to draw children in and include them in the process, by engaging them at their level and appealing to their interests.
In my community, I teach Kindergarten, serve in my church, and am a member of the Bush Presidential Center ENGAGE program concerning current affairs. Some of my other hobbies include scuba diving, traveling and photography. I’m also a newlywed! You can read our engagement story here.
Now that you’ve gotten to know me, tell me about you! Do you have questions about writing, education, or politics? I’d love to hear from you.
As for the election, May the best dog win!
